TRYOUTS FOR SPRING TEAM IN DECEMBER

Players & Parents, Thanks to those of you that were able to make the camp we recently held. It was a big success. Thanks to Denise Lane, Shane Eller and the coaches for all they put into the camp. We are now thinking about our spring teams and our tryouts coming up in December.

All of our coaches are very excited about our potential new players and our returning players. Varsity will have at least six new quality players mixed with nine returners and five freshmen all trying out for this year's team. We stand to have a very good program again this year. We will look to carry around 13 or 14 players. Middle School coaches were very excited about the sixteen young men that turned out for camp and all the talent they saw. With that group and the returning players the middle school team should have a very competitive try out to ensure another quality team again this year. We will potentially carry around 13 or 14 players as well. .

Our three day tryout for both Varsity and Middle School teams will start Saturday, December 6th at Dupree Park from 2:00 to 4:00. We will follow on December 8th and 9th from 4:00 to 6:00 also at Dupree Park. The team will be posted on the Crown website Tuesday night December 9th by 10:00 p.m.

Welcome to Crown Athletics baseball-where homeschooled athletes can have a competitive varsity experience within a Christian environment. You don't have to go to public school to play on a high school team.

Spring 2009 Season

Tryouts for the spring 2009 season will run over a four-day period starting Saturday, December 5, 7, and 8 at Dupree Park in Woodstock. Interested players should plan on attending all of these dates. The team will be announced and posted on the Crown website December 9.

The expected budget for the Varsity season is $750 per player and $725 for the middle school. A deposit of $250 will be due in December at our parent orientation meeting after the teams are announced. A second payment of $250 will be due on January 17. The final payment of $250 for high school and $200 for middle school will be due on February 4.

The workout schedule for January will be as follows: Mondays at the Batter's Up batting cages. Both varsity and middle school will hit from 4:45 - 6:00pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays we will practice at Dupree Park. Both middle school and varsity will practice from 4:00 to 6:00. Saturday practices will be determined week to week depending on field availability. Regular season games will begin the last week of February and run through May.

The spring season will conclude with the HWSA East Regional Tournament either in Raleigh, NC or Atlanta from April 22-25, 2009. Winners will proceed to the HWSA World Series in Pensacola, Florida from May 18-21, 2009.

Crown Varsity Baseball

Crown varsity baseball is open for homeschooled players in the ninth through twelfth grades who are serious about the sport. We participate in the Home School World Series Association; our opponents are primarily private schools in the 1A division of the Atlanta or north Georgia area.

After losing four seniors to graduation in 2008 including two key pitchers and the top of the line-up, the Knights will be welcoming a large incoming freshman class to fill the spots. We have five returning players who will now make our senior class. Alex Comstock, Robbi Schuler, Christian Miacco and AJ Parker will lead this year's team.

Alex Comstock was recently featured in a Fox News report that can be viewed at http://www.myfoxatlanta.com.

The varsity Crown Knights are proud to call the beautiful East Cobb Baseball complex in Marietta our home field. Click Here for directions to our home field.

Coaching Staff

The varsity team is pleased to have as its coaching staff: Head coach, Chuck Rosemond, who has been with the team for three years is looking forward to another season in 2009. He's a no-nonsense leader, ready and competent to lead the Knights on and off the field.

Coach Tony Parker has moved up from leading the middle school team and will be bringing his experience to the varsity level. Coach Parker has many years of experience with travel ball and recreational leagues at various parks around town.

Coach Tom Entz, Jr., will be back again this season to round out the coaching staff.

Crown Middle School Baseball

The middle school baseball team focuses on developing players and preparing them for the next step. Games are played during the week after school hours, about half local home games and half visiting the opponents' fields. The middle school team plays their games at Dupree Park. The coaches come to Crown with an experienced travel-team mentality ready to fine tune the sixth through eighth grade players into solid baseball players.

The 2009 season brings to the helm both a new head coach and assistants with lifetimes of baseball experience and knowledge. All students of the game, head coach Chris Lane with a bent toward mental preparation, attitude, and physical conditioning, said, “When you come to the ball park, you start getting mentally prepared. Once you step over the white chalk line, it's all business. We're there to play. We're trying to prepare these kids for life lessons too: winning, losing, bouncing back after being down, and being a team player. If you have a weak player who is not taking his position seriously, the whole team will be affected by it. This is not rec ball.

2008 Season

In spring 2008, the varsity baseball team completed its third season with a 19-9 record and graduated four seniors leaving big cleats to fill. An outstanding leader on and off the field was Tyler Entz, who boasted a final season batting average of .566. Some of our graduating athletes will be playing ball this fall at Liberty University and Bryan College.
