Knights Drum Corps on Hiatus

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

The Knights Drum Corps had several graduates in its last season and unfortunately, not enough students to fill their shoes!  For that reason, the Drum Corps program is on hiatus.

We have some resources remaining to start the program back up again, so If you are interested in getting involved in a Drumline or Color Guard program, please contact Crown Athletics AD, Michelle Rutledge, at michellerut@bellsouth.net for further details.

Crown Athletics Drum Corps Important Update!

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

The Crown Knights Drum Corps is at a critical juncture.  Without more students coming out to get involved in our drumline and color guard (flags), we will not be able to field a corps this year!  Tryouts were held in May and a good number showed up, but unfortunately several participants ended up having to pull out.

The Knights Drum Corps performs at Kell High School Stadium as part of the Crown Varsity Football Program and they also enjoy additional performance opportunities such as community parades and the annual Georgia Tech Band Day.  This really is a wonderful Christ-centered program to get involved with during the middle-high school years.

There is a two-day technical camp planned for Monday and Tuesday, June 13-14, with color guard camp the rest of the week.   Band Camp week will be held on July 5-8.  Both events will be held at The King’s Academy, 471 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA 30188.

If you or someone you know has interest in the Crown Knights Marching Drum Corps, please contact us right away!  Email Michelle Huebner hueby4@windstream.net or Kim Bosworth kim@bosworth.net for further details.  No experience is necessary, but musical training is a plus.

  • DRUMLINE - Marching Snare, Tenor, Bass Drums & Cymbals (Open to home school students Grades 7-12 - instruments provided!)
  • COLOR GUARD - Flag, Rifle, & Saber Auxiliary Units (Open to home school girls Grades 8-12)

We have some very exciting plans for the 2011 season, and we are praying that more students will show up so we can enjoy another wonderful year of Knights Drum Corps!!

Great Season for Drum Corps

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

The Knights Drum Corps wowed the crowds with an amazing half-time routine at the Crown Athletic football games this year and followed the season with two other exciting events.

On Saturday, November 20th, Knights drummers and flag corps participated in the 7th Annual Georgia Tech Band Day. They joined other bands from around the state in a halftime performance at the GT/Duke University football game!

The corps also participated in the Christmas Jubilee Parade on Saturday, December 4th in downtown Woodstock. Despite the weather, the drummers and color guard had a great time enjoying the holiday festivities.

Stay tuned - clinics and tryouts are coming in the spring!

Crown Color Guard gears up for great season!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

The Crown Color Guard had their first ever away camp experience this summer with The ColorGuard Academy.  Not only did the girls have a great time of team bonding and learning new flag, dance & rifle skills, but they also took home some incredible awards!

Of the eleven camp honors awarded, five went to our Crown Color Guard members! Ariel Walley received Beginner Flag Outstanding Student; Kayla Ladd received Lyrical Dance Outstanding Student; Alaina Tremble received Beginner Dance Outstanding student and Beginner Sabre Outstanding Student; and Haley Huebner received Most Improved Student Overall (of all of the campers attending).  Coach Kim Bosworth said that although the honors were well deserved, they were a totally unexpected blessing.

The girls come home charged up and ready for some great summer practices in preparation for the fall season.  They are even looking farther down the road now to a Winter Guard season!  Blessings abound at Crown - and we give the Lord all the praise and glory.

See you on the field soon!

PS - There’s still time to get involved in Crown Color Guard and Drumline!  If you are interested, please contact Michelle Huebner at hueby4@windstream.net for further details.  Students must be assessed and enrolled by July 20 in order to participate this season.
